• After completion of this course, you will qualify to work in a variety of care roles, with various career pathways, including; personal carer (aged or disability carer), home care assistant, nurse’s aide, accommodation support worker,  community care worker, disability services officer, planned activity assistant, school support officer (Disability) and more.

• You will be supported through your studies by a team of experienced Trainers and Assessors and student support team. We are here to help, with 24/7 online access, and available by walk in, phone or email during office ours. Student experience is our priority.

Course Details

• Prerequisites: There are no formal entry requirements
• Duration: 4 to 6 months
• Theory: 15 units in total (9 Core units and 6 Elective units)
• Delivery:
  • Face to Face: Class runs every Thursday and Friday (9am to 3pm)
  • Online: Students currently employed in the industry at an approved facility can study online. Students may be required to attend class if directed by their trainer.

• Assessments: Written assessments and practical assessments, no essays or exams
• Extra support: Lecture recordings and extra resources available for each unit
• Next Intake: Course runs on a rolling intake, you can begin at any time
• Practical: 120 hours of Vocational Placement required.
  • Aged Care centres will require evidence of Police Clearance and may require vaccination evidence
  • Please be aware that manual handling tasks will be required.
  • You will need to dedicate 3 weeks to this placement. Ensure that all family and work commitments are arranged in advance so that you are available from Monday to Friday, between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Entry Requirements

There are no mandated education entry requirements for this qualification, per the CHC Community Services Training Package.

It is also recommended that students

• Have language, literacy and numeracy skills that ensure the ability to read and comprehend technical terms and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Have access to a computer
• Have basic computing skills
